Course Description

This class is targeted towards learners who have no or limited exposure to the Greek Language. Classes are taught in a mixture of Greek and English to assist students in the learning process. Students will familiarize themselves with basic structures of the Greek language and emphasis will be given on developing their ability to understand native spoken Greek and express themselves in basic situations.

Learners cannot expect to acquire native-like competence in Greek in one or two years. Learners can expect to be able to communicate in a simple way with native speakers of Greek,  even though they may make mistakes. The goal of this course is communicative competence, not grammatical perfection.  Classroom time  is devoted mainly to activities that will allow learners to practice their skills of understanding and interacting in Greek. If you feel that you need additional help with grammar you may contact your teacher outside the class.
